About me

I'd love to tell you that I thoroughly researched every career option, took a long hard look in the mirror and made a calculated decision about my skill set. I did none of those things.

I applied for a job answering calls about investments, worked in the business for a while and realised that the people having the most fun and getting the biggest pay cheques were all in marketing so I applied for a job in the marketing team.

By a happy twist of fate I absolutely loved marketing from day one

I started as a marketing generalist and gained experience across the discipline; building web pages with HTML, CSS and various CMSs; developing social media strategy and using with analytics, testing and conversion rate optimisation programs.

From testing messaging to improve conversion rates for leads and business I discovered my passion for content marketing and optimising the messaging along client's journeys.

I’ve been responsible for content marketing at a FTSE 100 company through paid, owned and earned channels. This included commissioning, editing and writing content. I also launched a new service purchasing and publishing articles from leading news agencies.

As a freelance writer I have authored share recommendations and articles on investment strategy for some of the UK’s best-known share tipping services.

For one of the world’s largest banks I advised on messaging around a new pricing model. I also provided copy and content recommendations for major campaigns, wrote scripts and developed the content for key products.

As well as my extensive experience I hold an IDM Diploma in Digital Marketing, Digital Communications and Media/Multi-Media.

I'm based in Bristol which is also where I obtained my degree in Psychology and Post-Graduate Diploma in Economics, Finance and Management.

The goal of marketing is simple - tell the right people about your product at the right time, in the right way and make it easy for them to buy.

The fun is in the details - hunting out targets, tweaking the timing, testing messages and then smoothing the way with a great user-experience.

It's a mix of science and art.

For someone like me with a psychology degree and a love of writing it's a dream job.
